WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) has joined U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann (R-KS) in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service to halt its plans to cancel the July Cattle report.
"The USDA’s July Cattle report is an important document for Iowa cattle producers. It outlines details on herd size, calf crop, and heifer retention nationwide and delivers a transparent and digestible analysis of cattle market conditions," emphasized Rep. Feenstra.
Highlighting the significance of the report, Feenstra stated, “Since I was elected to Congress, bringing transparency to the cattle marketplace has been a top priority for me and our cattle producers here in Iowa. I urge Secretary Vilsack to ensure that the July Cattle report continues as scheduled so that our producers can make informed marketing decisions and compare prices nationally, especially as inflation causes economic uncertainty for agriculture.”
