Dayton Meat Products has been recognized as the Small Business of the Week by Chair Joni Ernst. “For 67 years, Dayton Meat Products has been meating the needs of the Malcolm community,” said Chair Ernst. “This small business has carved out a trusted name for itself across Iowa, processing more than 700 hogs and 45,000 pounds of game meat each year and earning widespread recognition for its award-winning dried beef, bacon, ham, and jerky.”
The company was founded in 1959 by Lawrence Dayton and is considered one of Iowa’s most respected meat processors. In 1994, the Dayton family moved operations to South Malcolm and constructed a facility that includes a slaughterhouse, garage, smokehouse, cutting rooms, and retail store. The business remains family-owned and is currently led by Lawrence’s son Bill along with grandsons Josh and Jake.
Chair Ernst continues to highlight notable small businesses in Iowa through her weekly award.
