Chair Joni Ernst announced on Mar. 9 that Grant Ranch Grub & Pub has been named the Small Business of the Week. Ernst said, “Grant Ranch Grub & Pub is a shining example of how Iowa hospitality, family tradition, and entrepreneurial perseverance can be sandwiched together to make a big impact. Through exceptional service, Danette Meyer and her team are serving up hometown flavor one plate at a time.”
The recognition highlights the importance of small businesses in local communities and their role in preserving family traditions. The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee supports informed decision-making on national fiscal priorities, according to the official website.
Grant Ranch Grub & Pub traces its roots back to the late 1960s when it was founded by Duane and Mary Grant. After several location changes over the years, Sherry Fisher revived the name in 2003. Today, Danette Meyer, the first grandchild of Duane and Mary Grant, operates the business on Sigourney Square where it has become a local favorite for full-service dining.
The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee offers Congress comprehensive policy options on federal budget components and features Lindsey Graham as chairman with Jeff Merkley as ranking member, according to the official website. The committee also contributes to the congressional budget process through resolutions and reconciliation instructions.
Established through the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974, the committee provides nonpartisan budgetary analysis by overseeing the Congressional Budget Office, according to its official website.
Ernst said she will continue recognizing outstanding Iowa small businesses with her weekly award.
