WASHINGTON, D.C. – On April 26, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement after he led the Iowa congressional delegation in negotiations with Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, securing vital tax relief for Iowa agriculture and the biofuels industry. With these provisions in place, Feenstra subsequently voted for the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 to eliminate roughly $4.8 trillion in wasteful spending from the federal budget over the next decade.
“When I ran for Congress, I made a solemn promise to Iowa farmers, producers, and our rural communities that I would be the strongest voice for agriculture in Washington. After leading negotiations with Speaker McCarthy to rein in government spending and protect Iowa biofuels, I am proud that vital tax provisions to grow our thriving biofuels industry and help our farmers succeed will not be eliminated. This is a major victory for rural Iowa and our economy.
Our nation is nearly $32 trillion in debt, inflation remains at record highs, and our families and main street businesses continue to pay the price. Republicans have offered a responsible plan to slash $4.8 trillion from the federal budget and combat President Biden’s wasteful spending, crippling inflation, and tax-and-spend agenda.
The American people deserve solutions to the debt crisis that Biden has exacerbated. It’s time for the president to face the consequences of his destructive policies and negotiate a responsible framework to end wasteful spending, reduce our debt, and restore fiscal responsibility for the sake of our children and grandchildren.”
