The 2022 Book Lovers’ Book Sale, organized by the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library, opens Thursday, April 7 at 4:00pm and runs through Saturday, April 16.

Back from a two-year hiatus, the book sale will be held in the upper level of the old Younkers store at Southern Hills Mall – 4380 Sergeant Road. During the pandemic, the Friends of the Library have continued to collect donations. Shoppers can look forward to over 80,000 volumes of books and recordings – over double the number of items from past years – making this the largest sale the Friends of the Library has held. Books for sale range from new and old, popular and rare, to various genres, and for all ages. Hardcover books, DVDs and recordings will be available for $4, paperbacks for $2, and children’s picture books for $1.

“Proceeds from the sale enable the Friends to give back to the community in a big way by funding special initiatives at the Library like Summer Reading, and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, and by contributing to major projects like the Morningside Branch renovation,” said John McGuire, president of the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library board, “Because we have not been able to host a sale for the last two years, the need for funds to support the Library is greater than ever as we start to get back on track.”
