On March 16, 2026, Ernst commented on the status of Transportation Security Administration agents during a government funding dispute. Ernst operates within the federal legislative branch as a senator from Iowa and was the first woman from Iowa elected to the U.S. Senate as well as the first female combat veteran in that body.
