Joni Ernst, U.S. Senator from Iowa and chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, addressed several topics in a series of posts on her official Twitter account between February 16 and 17, 2026.
On February 16, Ernst commented on rumors concerning UAE President MBZ, stating: “This is a completely false rumor. UAE President MBZ is a brave leader and dear friend. He has charted a path towards greater peace and cooperation in the Middle East and deserves better than nasty online rumors that are intended to stoke chaos.”
The following day, Ernst shared an update related to tax policy in Iowa: “Great news for Iowans! Tax refunds are up 11% this year thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts!” On the same day, she addressed unspent federal funds from pandemic relief programs: “COVID ended years ago, but @USLaborIG is reporting $900 million remains in unemployment COVID slush funds. We can return this and the over $65 billion I’ve identified to the American people with my Returning Unspent COVID Funds Act.”
Ernst’s office provides constituent services such as casework assistance and facilitating interactions with federal agencies across Iowa (official website). She also participates in committees covering Armed Services, Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, as well as Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Elected in 2014 as the first woman from Iowa to serve in the U.S. Senate and the first female combat veteran in that body, Ernst continues to represent Iowans at the federal level.
