Senator Ernst represents Iowa in Congress and has served over two decades in the Iowa Army National Guard, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel and commanding troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is also recognized as the first woman from Iowa elected to federal office and was raised on a family farm in Montgomery County.
