The City of Sioux City Engineering Division announces the start of the Kings Highway Reconstruction Project from Meadow Lane and Hamilton Boulevard for the 2023 construction season. The contractor plans to begin construction on or about June 1, 2023, weather pending.

The Kings Highway Reconstruction Project will reconstruct the roadway and add a sidewalk on the north side of the street from Meadow Lane to Hamilton Boulevard. City utilities such as water,storm, and sanitary sewer will also be replaced.

The project is planned to be constructed in two stages.

• Stage 1: June 1, 2023, through Mid-July 2023o Construction of the intersection of Meadow Lane and approximately 150 feet of Kings Highway to the East• Stage 2: Mid-July 2023 – September 2023o Construction of approximately 600 feet of Kings Highway starting at Hamilton Boulevard and going West

During the project, a detour route utilizing Hamilton Boulevard, Country Club Boulevard, and Perry Way will be posted.

The Kings Highway Reconstruction Project was awarded to Steve Harris Construction, Inc. on November 21, 2022, in the amount of $1,393,482.74.
