Randy Feenstra, U.S. Congressman representing Iowa’s 4th district since 2021, used his social media platform to comment on recent legislative actions and the ongoing government shutdown. Feenstra’s posts focus on tax legislation signed by President Trump and criticism of Democrats regarding the shutdown’s impact.

On October 7, 2025, Feenstra stated, “This summer, Republicans passed, and President Trump signed into law, legislation that STOPPED the largest tax increase on families, farmers, workers, and small businesses in history. These tax cuts will grow our economy and support working families.”

Later that day, he criticized Democratic lawmakers for their handling of budget negotiations: “Democrats shut down the government to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants and spend $1.5 trillion. Now, during the peak of harvest season, farmers can’t go to FSA offices. This Democrat shutdown puts illegal immigrants over Iowa farmers and the American heartland.”

On October 8, Feenstra reiterated his concerns about the ongoing shutdown: “Democrats have now kept the government shut down for 8 days because they won’t budge on giving illegal immigrants free healthcare. Because of their partisan antics, our troops and border patrol agents will not get a paycheck.”

Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Steve King in 2021. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969, Feenstra is an alumnus of Dordt University.
