Rep. Randy Feenstra, who represents Iowa’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on February 23, 2026, addressing constituents about travel safety, legislative guests for the State of the Union, and federal disaster recovery funding.
On February 23, 2026, Feenstra issued a warning to Iowans traveling in Mexico due to cartel violence. He wrote: “Travel alert for Iowans in Mexico:
Due to cartel violence, I strongly urge constituents in Mexico to shelter in place and adhere to instructions from the U.S. Department of State.

State”.
Later that day, Feenstra announced his special guests for the State of the Union address: “I am honored to have Scott Root, father of the late Sarah Root, and Scotty Root, her brother, as my special guests for the State of the Union.
The first bill signed by President Trump was the Laken Riley Act, which included Sarah’s Law — in honor of Sarah Root.
I am thankful”.
In an evening update on February 23, Feenstra discussed federal support following recent natural disasters: “Following the devastating 2024 floods, FEMA has allocated more than $62 million in disaster recovery grants for communities across Iowa.
I worked directly with FEMA administrators to deliver these resources and will continue advocating to ensure our district receives the full”.
Randy Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th District since replacing Steve King in 2021. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and currently residing there at age 54, Feenstra graduated from Dordt University with a bachelor’s degree in 1991.
