City of Salix issued the following announcement on May 22.
THANK YOU Missouri River Historical Development (MRHD) for accepting Salix as the receipient of their Spring 2020 Grant. The $15,000 grant will be used towards the purchase of a new weather siren for the city. Our old siren is from the 1960's and due to it's age, replacement parts cost more than the value of the siren. The new weather siren will be connected to the County Communications Center to quickly notify residents and visitors of imminent danger due to extreme weather conditions such as tornado and/or windstorms. It will also be multi-tonal allowing variation in sounds to differentiate the causes for warning. Volunteers from the fire department will be installing the new siren when it arrives in approximately 8 weeks. The City of Salix would also like to thank SIMPCO for their assistance with the grant writing.
