Citizen Life Saver Award

Award

City of Sioux City issued the following announcement on October 25.

Sioux City Fire Rescue will be presenting a Citizen Life Saver Award to Sgt. Doug Boetger of the Woodbury County Sherriff’s Office. The Citizen Life Saver Award is awarded for a significant and appropriate act by a citizen that resulted in or potentially resulted in the saving of a life.

On June 21st, 2021 Sioux City Fire Rescue was dispatched for a person having seizures at Perkins Restaurant on Gordon Drive. Dispatch advised that an officer was on scene and applying an AED. On arrival Sgt. Boetger was found performing CPR with an AED on the patient. The patient did regain a pulse while en-route to the hospital. We believe this outcome would not have happened without the quick action of Sgt. Boetger.

Please join us in honoring Sgt. Boetger on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm. This ceremony will be held at Police Fire HQ in Davidchik hall (1st Floor).
