LOGAN, IOWA – U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) has kicked off his second annual Feenstra Agriculture Tour in order to engage with Iowa farmers, producers, and the agricultural community regarding the importance of passing a robust Farm Bill for Iowa.
Last year, Feenstra embarked on his first-ever agriculture tour, making nearly 30 stops to listen directly to farmers and producers. The purpose of the tour was to address key issues such as lowering inflation, expanding export markets, protecting farms from foreign animal diseases, and preventing China from acquiring American farmland. Discussions were also held on the upcoming Farm Bill reauthorization and Feenstra's efforts to strengthen crop insurance, invest in precision agriculture technologies, expand rural broadband, and hold federal bureaucrats accountable for land grabs.
In order to ensure that Iowa's agricultural community has a say in the writing and passing of the Farm Bill, Feenstra has decided to relaunch his Feenstra Agriculture Tour. He aims to bring Iowa's voice to Congress and advocate for the needs of the agricultural sector. Feenstra is committed to addressing issues such as repealing the death tax and supporting the next generation of farmers.
"As the strongest voice for agriculture in Congress, I will continue to work on both the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee to lower taxes for our producers, stand up to China, and keep our agricultural economy strong," said Rep. Feenstra.
The tour commenced with a meeting at the Harrison County Farm Bureau, where coffee was shared and ideas were exchanged. Following this, Feenstra hosted a Farm Bill town hall with local farmers and producers in Treynor.
The Feenstra Agriculture Tour aims to provide a platform for Iowa's agricultural community to have their concerns heard and to ensure that their needs are met in the upcoming Farm Bill. By engaging directly with farmers and producers, Feenstra aims to gather valuable insights and experiences that he can take back to Congress and advocate for policies that will benefit the agricultural sector.
