U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra has announced his involvement in the introduction of the Security First Act, a legislative proposal aimed at bolstering border security operations. The legislation seeks to fully fund Operation Stonegarden, a grant program that provides financial support for law enforcement activities focused on enhancing security along the U.S. southern border.
Rep. Feenstra emphasized the importance of equipping law enforcement officers and border patrol agents with necessary resources. "It’s critical that our law enforcement officers and border patrol agents have the resources that they need to do their jobs and keep our communities safe," he stated.
The Security First Act also includes a provision urging the U.S. Secretary of State to consider classifying Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, reflecting growing concerns over cartel-related violence and its impact on border security.
Rep. Feenstra expressed confidence in achieving stronger border control measures under President Trump's leadership, stating, "With President Trump in the White House, we will stand strong with our border patrol agents, combat the cartels, and lock down our border." He added that Republicans are committed to meeting public demands for secure borders: "The American people demand action, and Republicans will see to it that we have a secure border."
