U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) led a group of 49 members of Congress in sending a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin. The letter supports the EPA’s proposed Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) “Set 2” rule and calls for the reallocation of all waived gallons from any granted Small Refinery Exemptions (SREs). The lawmakers urged the EPA to finalize the rule quickly.
“President Trump and his administration have done great work to lower prices at the pump for American families. A final, timely Set 2 rule that includes strong RVOs and necessary reallocation represents the most meaningful commitment to farmers and rural communities, homegrown American energy, and affordability for consumers,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I will continue to work with Administrator Zeldin and President Trump to support homegrown Iowa biofuels and promote energy independence.”
Feenstra was joined by Representatives Nikki Budzinski (D-IL), Brad Finstad (R-MN), Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-MI), as well as Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).
In September, the EPA issued a supplemental proposal considering levels of reallocation for Small Refinery Exemptions.
Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th district in Congress since 2021, succeeding Steve King. He previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969, Feenstra graduated from Dordt University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree.
