The Sioux City Public Library is pleased to announce that the 2023 Summer Reading programs will run June 1 – July 30. Participants can win prizes by reading all summer long. In addition to all the amazing books and resources found at the Library, kids and families can participate in storytimes, read-to-me dogs, family movie Fridays, Keith West, Illusionist, a visit from the Great Plains Zoomobile, two Teen After Hour events, puppet shows, a toddler dance party, LEGO events, and much more.

There is also a program for adults. By participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program, adults can track their reading for chances at great prizes.

All Sioux City Public Library Summer Reading events are always free. Certain events will require advance registration due to capacity limits.

KICK-OFF EVENTS

Mark your calendars for May 31 when the Adult Summer Reading will kick-off with a Trivia Night at Buffalo Alice’s on historic 4th Street. While you are testing your pop culture knowledge across the decades you can get more information on the adult reading program. Prizes for trivia winners will be books from this summer’s Adult Summer Reading Book List.

June 1 from 2-4 pm at the Downtown Aalfs Library the Youth Summer Reading program will kick-off. Attendees can Find Your Voice in the Karaoke Lounge, create wearable art by making a cool button and place your handprint on the Library’s mural. You will also be able to pick up your starter pack. Can’t make the kick-off event? Just visit any Library location during June and July for your starter pack and more information.
