City of Anthon issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.
The city’s garbage contract with Sanitary Services needed to be renewed by January 2020. Eric Lundell, owner, proposed the city switch to carts that Sanitary Services will provide, as Anthon is the only town left that has not changed to carts. He also asked for a rate increase, which is the first increase for garbage in 3 years.
Sanitary Services will provide one large cart (96 gallons) per residential household. If you don’t need the large cart they can replace it with a small cart (64 gallons). The rate is the same for the large cart or small cart. The carts are scheduled to be delivered to the residential households the week of January 14, 2020. You will need to start using the new carts as soon as yours is delivered. Sanitary Services will not pick up any garbage that isn’t in the cart they provide. The only exception will be on Spring Clean-up Day.
