Sioux City administration has restricted access to district buildings while schools continue to operate amid growing coronavirus threats, according to Sioux City Journal.
The District Superintendent Officer Paul Gausman released a written statement addressed to parents informing them about the situation and the steps the district administration is taking to counter coronavirus threats. So far, 17 cases of the virus have been reported in Iowa while Woodbury County is clear of this pandemic.
“The Public Health Department of Iowa has not yet advised the district administration to close down schools," Gausman wrote. "I am writing this letter to assure all the parents that the school is closely being monitored by the Health Department and experts have been stationed at school to counter the increasing concerns over the pandemic."
Meanwhile, Gov. Kim Reynolds said in a statement that the government is closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19. So far, there has been no evidence of community spread of the virus.
