A task force has been developed as Iowa continues to navigate through the coronavirus, according to Sioux Land News.

The National Guard in Iowa’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team has launched the Joint Task Force West at the Iowa Air National Guard Facility. The center is located in Sioux City, and the National Guard also teamed up with Airmen from Sioux City’s 185th Air Refueling Wing and the Joint Forces Headquarters in Johnston to enforce the task force, Col. Michael Wunn announced.

The task force is at work to offer COVID-19 relief in western Iowa through its task centers. The National Guard has already partnered with the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to help provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical workers.

So far, more than 280 pallets of resources have been delivered to more than 90 of the counties in the state.

Medical screening tests are also available in Polk, Mahaska and Clarke counties thanks to the efforts of the Iowa National Guard.
