City of Storm Lake issued the following announcement on Apr. 7.
With the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Buena Vista County, the City of Storm Lake, through Mayor Mike Porsch and City Manager Keri Navratil, wants to assure residents that municipal operations continue with cautionary protocols to ensure delivery of core services to the community.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, the public is unable to access city facilities; however, all city departments continue operations. We urge you to either email cityhall@stormlake.org or call 712-732-8000. With the health and safety of employees and the public in mind, schedules and protocols are in place that practice social distancing while still providing necessary services.
As recently noted by Buena Vista County Public Health Administrator, Pam Bogue:
“We encourage all people to continue to make prevention a priority,” said Public Health Administrator, Pam Bogue.
These actions include:
• Practice social distancing and staying home as much as possible.
• Washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time.
• Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow/upper arm.
• Staying home when ill.
• Routine cleaning frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops with effective cleaner.
We want to remind and emphasize that play equipment is closed and must not be used. We appreciate the disruption and inconvenience to our daily lives caused by this pandemic. The City will continue to monitor direction received from Federal and State sources and act accordingly.
We are Storm Lake Proud together!
