Mask1

City of Storm Lake issued the following announcement on May 20.

COVID-19 Guidance on Cloth Face Coverings

Through this release, the City of Storm Lake is affirming recent guidance issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health regarding the use of face coverings.  While sometimes uncomfortable, wearing face coverings can assist with slowing community spread of COVID-19.  The information from IDPH follows.

The City of Storm Lake strongly urges everyone in our community to wear face coverings. Wearing a face covering is a critical tool to reduce asymptomatic transmission. Residents should consider staying home as much as possible, practice social distancing of at least 6 feet, frequent hand washing, covering coughs and staying home when sick.

The City of Storm Lake strongly encourages face coverings to be worn in public settings such as:

  • Waiting in line to go to a store
  • Shopping at a store
  • Picking up to-go food at a restaurant
  • Seeking healthcare
  • Going into facilities allowed to stay open
  • Working an essential job that interacts with the public
  • Children 2 years and older should be encouraged to wear a mask when around others closer than 6 feet and should be supervised by an adult.
You should avoid touching or adjusting your cloth face mask while in public, clean your hands immediately if you do have to touch it, and launder the mask after each use and when it is visibly soiled.
