Yesterday, U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra voted in favor of the Social Security Fairness Act. This legislation aims to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). The goal is to ensure that public servants such as teachers, police officers, and firefighters receive their full Social Security benefits.

Feenstra stated, "Our seniors deserve to receive the Social Security benefits they have earned after a lifetime of hard work. But, for too long, public servants like teachers, police officers, and firefighters have been wrongfully denied their full benefits." He emphasized his commitment by saying, "That’s why I voted for the Social Security Fairness Act to repeal outdated rules that have long prevented Iowa’s teachers, police officers, and firefighters from receiving the full Social Security benefits that they worked so hard for and deserve. I will always protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors."

The vote took place in Washington D.C., reflecting ongoing discussions about how best to support retired public service workers.
