City of Storm Lake issued the following announcement on Jun. 1.
On behalf of the City of Storm Lake, Mayor Mike Porsch, City Manager Keri Navratil, and Chief Chris Cole provide these thoughts.
We are shocked and saddened of the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department.
It is our greatest honor and privilege to serve the Citizens of Storm Lake and we want to assure our residents that the actions of the Minneapolis police officers are not representative of our Storm Lake Police Department. We do not tolerate racism. We are a community who embraces and treasures diversity and who truly care about our neighbors.
All of us at the City of Storm Lake thank you for your trust and for allowing us to serve this great community. We remain Storm Lake Proud together!
