Sioux City has received $15,000 from the Kind World Foundation to help respond to COVID-19.
“The donation will assist with costs associated with purchasing face masks to be distributed throughout the city as well as promoting their use in the area,” according to a post on the Sioux City website. “Additional initiatives are being discussed to utilize funding.”
The Sioux City website states that part of the donation will be used to provide businesses with new window clings that encourages the use of masks. Wraps encouraging masks have already been installed on three city buses.
Residents and businesses have been advised to wear masks in public to reduce the spread of the coronavirus under a Sept. 21 resolution approved by the Sioux City Council. The city is expected to have access to masks to distribute to the public at many of its buildings including the art center, expo center, library and museum.
