The Kind World Foundation donated $15,000 to the Friends of Sioux City Police Department in an effort to help combat the COVID-19 crisis.
Mayor Bob Scott thanked Cindy Waitt and the entire Kind World Foundation publicly for their much-needed donation at a recent press conference, according to a Sioux City press release.
Representatives from Siouxland District Health and other partners joined the mayor in an effort to encourage all residents in Sioux City to use their face masks in public spaces. Face masks are the key to protecting others and wearing them shows respect for the people in the area, according to the CDC.
The donation will cover costs linked with purchasing face masks to get them to residents and will also cover educating people about the importance and functionality of the masks.
Moreover, the Sioux City Council approved a declaration requesting citizens, institutions and companies to wear a mask when out in public on Sept. 21. The resolution was approved in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
