City of Storm Lake issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.
Previously, the City of Storm Lake has issued Press Releases to inform residents about the causes of sewer back ups and best practices to avoid them.
This week a source of a sewer backup was again found to be wipes. While often referred to as flushable wipes, they are not. In reality, many items can be flushed down a toilet, however, it is not best to do so.
For instance, accompanying the wipes in this recent sewer back up was a Barbie doll. Now, while we do not know if Barbie was a willing participant in this adventure, the scenery on the trip was likely uninspiring.
Please be mindful and limit flushing to toilet paper and, well, the other obvious stuff…
