ArtSplash 2021

City of Sioux City issued the following announcement on July 28.

The Sioux City Art Center is excited to announce that Art Center’s ArtSplash is moving downtown on the Art Center campus, a move that has been long in the planning. The festival is a yearly Art Center tradition, scheduled over Labor Day Weekend every year. This year’s festival will take place September 4 & 5, featuring exhibiting artists from across the country along with family friendly entertainment and hands-on art activities.

The Art Center is proud to once again partner with Presenting Sponsor, Tyson Foods, Inc. to make the festival better each year. This year, The Art Center received support from Great Southern Bank and The Gilchrist Foundation to make the festival free to the public and defray costs of the move.

“Since the last ArtSplash festival at Riverside Park in 2019, we have had a chance to reassess its goals and priorities. With the changes we are making, our goal is make the festival more accessible than ever to Siouxlanders and to bring greater attention to the arts and culture of our region,” said Todd Behrens, Art Center Director.

The move to the Art Center campus allows for new partnerships, utilizing Art Center facilities in innovative ways. Regarding the move downtown, Ragen Cote, Executive Director of Downtown Partners said, “We are very excited to see ArtSplash make its way into downtown this year. Having the event surrounding this outstanding facility will provide the community an opportunity to see the many wonderful outdoor sculpture and indoor exhibiting, and is a great compliment to the annual festival. Downtown has a great summer line up and the businesses in downtown welcome you and hope you enjoy your time over the Labor Day weekend!”

ArtSplash fundraising is ongoing, and community support is essential to the success of the festival. Other ways of contributing include signing up to volunteer for the two-day festival. Our volunteers are essential to the success of this important community event. More information about the festival is available on the new Art Center website at www.siouxcityartcenter.org and clicking on the Events tab.
