Both Joy Hollow Log Cabin and Weber Log Cabin will open at 1 p.m. on the Seventh Annual Log Cabin Day.  Civil War re-enactor Michael Peters of Sioux City and formerly of Merrill will meet with visitors all afternoon on the lawn in front of the Weber Cabin.

Also, outside the Museum starting at 1:30 p.m., Jonathan Foster, Museum exhibit manager, will sing old-time favorites near the Weber Cabin.  He will continue until 2 p.m. and then return for more music from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Other offerings for Log Cabin Day include cherry pie tarts and Indian fry bread at Joy Hollow Log Cabin, all in memory of Cherry Cliff.  The former Museum volunteer from Union Township was a strong supporter of the Museum and is remembered with a photo near the fireplace in Joy Hollow Log Cabin.

Other activities include kids’ old-fashioned games on the Museum’s lawn at 3 p.m.

Inside the Museum, a brief program followed by a book signing will begin at 2 p.m. in the Music Room. Greg Severson, a native of Le Mars who resides in Omaha, will make comments about his book, “Druids of Le Mars,” and then do a book signing.

Root beer floats will flow in the 1940s diner known as Miller’s Lunch. All five floors of the Museum will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.

Admission to the Museum is free, but donations are welcome.
