Sign Up for a Library Card Online

Genbusiness005

City of Sioux City recently issued the following announcement.

The Sioux City Public Library added a new feature to their website that allows Sioux City residents 18 or older to apply for a Library card online.

Traditionally, getting a Library card requires a visit to the Library with a valid photo ID and proof of address. Now, residents of Sioux City have the option to quickly fill out and submit an online form to complete the application process. "The Library will, of course, still welcome in-person applications," said Helen Rigdon, library director at the Sioux City Public Library. "But we are also now equipped to offer a streamlined and convenient experience with this new online feature."

The form is powered by a service called Verify. It checks that the applicant lives at the address provided and that the address is within the Library's service area. In a matter of moments, individuals whose application passes verification receive an email with their unique card information. They can then immediately begin using that card number to access the Library's online catalog and databases.

For more information about the types of borrower cards available through the Sioux City Public Library or to apply for a card, visit www.siouxcitylibrary.org/services.
