Holiday Programming at the Sioux City Public Museum

Sioux

City of Sioux City recently issued the following announcement.

The Sioux City Public Museum announced two holiday programs at a press conference today.

Kid’s Saturdays on Saturday, December 11 features free “Holiday Make and Take” activities from 10 a.m. to noon. Young children accompanied by an adult(s) are invited to make fun holiday crafts including a reindeer, pinecone tree, and more. Explore the Museum gallery with a holiday scavenger hunt. Craft quantities are limited.

December’s History at High Noon features “The History and Meanings of Nativity Scenes” on Thursday, December 16 at 12:05 p.m. The home nativity scene is a common feature of Christmas observances, but knowledge of its history and its cultural variations contains many surprises. Presenter Dr. Bruce Forbes, author of Christmas: A Candid History, is encouraging attendees to arrive early with their own nativity scenes for a display that will be incorporated into the presentation. Attendees are invited to bring their own lunches to the free presentation.

Protective masks/face coverings are encouraged for those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccination. The Sioux City Public Museum is located at 607 4th Street in downtown Sioux City. Admission is free. For more information, call 712-279-6174 or visit SiouxCityMuseum.org/current-programs.
