Tickets are now on sale for the Plymouth County Historical Museum’s 57th annual meeting in “Old Central” Gym with a unique theme, “The Museum Rocks!”
This year’s annual meeting will follow the tradition of many annual meetings time when new board members are elected for a three-year term. If you are interested in serving on the board, just call the Museum at 546-7002.
At the piano to open the evening with dinner music will be Rev. Paul Eisele, Le Mars priest, who has been a long-time supporter of the Museum. He donated his nativity collection to the Museum and entertains each year with an Epiphany concert, although COVID put a stop to the 2021 concert.
Also providing music and dance will be the Sudanese Mission of the Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars where the Rev. Daniel Mapur is in charge.
Retired biologist Bill Zales of rural Westfield will talk about the past, present, and future of the Loess Hills. He and his wife, Dottie, reside in the Loess Hills of Plymouth County.
Ryan Odor, president of the Museum board, will serve as master of ceremonies. Offering prayer will be his wife, Rev. Beth Odor, pastor of the Hinton and Melbourne United Methodist Churches.
Carol’s Kitchen of Kingsley will cater the meal of roast beef and chicken, cheesy potatoes, California blend vegetables, macaroni salad, and seven-layer salad. The evening also will feature a dessert bar provided by the Museum board members.
The theme of “The Museum Rocks” grew out of a 2021 state COVID-19 program that offered to award grant funds for those groups willing to establish a meaningful theme. The Museum has two rocks on its east lawn – one in memory of Marvin Klemme in 1976 on the front lawn and another in memory of Glada (Reichert) Koerselman. She saved the Museum from the wrecking ball in 1995 and was a charter board member. Her memorial rock, bearing her likeness on a bronze plaque, is snuggled on the south side of Joy Hollow Log Cabin, which she also helped save.
The Museum has hosted an annual meeting in the spring every year since the Museum started in 1965 at the old administrative building of the Le Mars Airport. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no annual meeting in 2020. A meet and greet meeting without a meal was featured in 2021.

Tickets also will be available at the Museum during open hours, Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 5 p.
