Downtown Partners is excited to start the holiday season with an evening full of activities for this year’s Downtown for the Holidays on Monday, November 21 at 6:15 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 231 presents the annual Downtown Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade will travel along 4th street starting at Iowa Street and ending at Nebraska Street. We will gather in front of the Sioux City Public Museum where we will light the tree and welcome the holiday season.
Businesses, organizations, and service groups in Siouxland are encouraged to participate in the parade. There is no registration fee and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in commercial and non-commercial categories; 1st – $150.00, 2nd – $100.00, and 3rd – $50.00. The registration deadline for the Holiday Lighted Parade is Tuesday, November 15.
The Downtown Storefront Decorating Competition is back! This competition is an opportunity for downtown businesses and local nonprofits to create a beautiful holiday window display. We invite everyone to vote for their favorite storefront. The storefront with the most votes will win a $500 donation to any Siouxland nonprofit. Online voting will be open from November 21 through December 26. Businesses and nonprofits must register for the Holiday Storefront Decorating Competition by Tuesday, November 1.
Additional events on the night of the parade include: Free admission to LaunchPAD Children’s Museum from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. with a donation to the warming shelter; free hot chocolate before the parade at Evolve Yoga and Wellness; the 29th annual Festival of Trees display will begin in the Ho-Chunk Centre at 6:00 p.m. with the tree auction for the Siouxland Foster Closet on December 1st; Santa’s House will be located at 422 Pierce Street until 8:00 p.m.; free RE/MAX Preferred stocking hats to parade attendees at 4th and Jones; the Sioux City Convention Center and Hardline Coffee Co. will have festive treats for sale near the parade.
New this year! Enjoy your favorite holiday movies at Promenade Cinema 14 from December 1-12 for only $5! Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Food Bank of Siouxland.
A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 231 for helping make the parade possible, and to Thompson Electric and the Sioux City Public Museum for their involvement with the holiday decorations.
