“Since When Do Easter Bunnies Lay Eggs?” is one of the many questions to be explored at History at High Noon: Religion and Popular Culture at Easter on Thursday, March 16 at 12:05 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring lunches to this free program at the Sioux City Public Museum.

Presenter Dr. Bruce Forbes will discuss Easter’s history, meanings, and practices, including topics such as relationships with the Jewish Passover, the changing date each year, and bunnies, eggs, Easter baskets and parades. The program will be available online from March 30 through April 10.

Forbes is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies, Morningside University, now retired after forty years of full-time teaching there. He is the author of Christmas: A Candid History (2007) and America’s Favorite Holidays: Candid Histories (2015). The second book includes chapters about Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
