WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the POLICE Act of 2023, which would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make assaulting a law enforcement officer a deportable offense.
“Since President Biden refuses to secure our border, our law enforcement and border patrol agents face constant threats to their lives while doing their jobs. It’s wrong and it must end,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I’m proud to support the POLICE Act to ensure that any illegal immigrant who attacks a law enforcement officer is swiftly deported. As a strong ally of our police and law enforcement, I will always back the blue 100%.”
In 2019, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested illegal immigrants who accounted for nearly 46,000 assault convictions and charges.
