The Sioux City Public Museum’s free summer walking
tours begin this weekend.
Saturday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to noon
West 7th Street Walking Tour
Departing from the Yummi Blox Food Truck Lot, 700
W. 7th Street
Led by Matt Anderson, Curator of History, the tour will highlight buildings of the past and present. Among the existing historical buildings to be discussed are the Steam Tractor Auto and Manufacturing Company building, which now houses J & L Staffing, and the Sun Theater, which now houses Foulk Brothers Plumbing & Heating. Presented as part of the Siouxland Asian Festival.

Jackson Street Neighborhood Walking Tour
Departing from the Peirce Mansion, 2901 Jackson
Street
A special Peirce Mansion open house will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the 75-minute walking tour of the surrounding residential neighborhood led by Tom Munson, Archives Manager, and Haley Aguirre, Archival Records Clerk. The public is invited to attend both, or either, of the free activities. John Peirce, builder of the historic Peirce Mansion, and his partner D. T. Hedges developed the northern part of Jackson St. as part of the longest single addition to Sioux City: Peirce’s Addition.
