The City of Sioux City Engineering Division announces the start of the Pierce Street Water Main Replacement Project (5th Street to 7th Street). The contractor plans to begin construction on or about May 30, 2023, weather pending.

The Pierce Street Water Main Replacement Project will replace the existing water main and street paving above the water main. New fire hydrants and water services will be installed as part of the project. Construction is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2023. The Pierce Street Water Main Replacement Project (5th Street to 7th Street) was awarded to Sioux City Engineering Company on August 8, 2022 in the amount of $2,360,187.10.

The project will be constructed in two main stages. Traffic will be maintained on Pierce Street and 6th Street with lane closures. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, drive cautiously, and obey all traffic control signs with regards to this closure.
