WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) has joined a group of lawmakers in sending a letter to the White House, urging President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border and reverse his executive orders that have contributed to what they call "the worst border crisis in generations."
"Our border is wide open because President Biden refuses to enforce our nation's laws and protect our communities," said Rep. Feenstra. "President Biden must overturn his reckless executive orders that have allowed drug traffickers, terrorists, foreign nationals with ties to China, and millions of illegal immigrants to pour over our border with no vetting whatsoever."
The letter, led by U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), highlights the dire situation at the U.S. Southern Border, attributing the responsibility for the crisis to President Biden and his administration. The lawmakers accuse the administration of intentionally and systematically undermining U.S. border security by failing to enforce existing laws that have previously helped secure the border and prevent illegal immigration.
The letter specifically mentions President Biden's executive actions on his very first day in office. "On January 20, 2021, – your very first day in office – you immediately took executive action to halt border wall construction and issued a moratorium on deportations and immigration enforcement," the letter states. The lawmakers argue that these actions have sent a clear signal to illegal immigrants, traffickers, and cartels that America's borders are open.
The lawmakers are calling on the Biden administration to enforce the laws currently in place, restart border wall construction, and prevent the flow of deadly substances like fentanyl into the country. They emphasize the impact of the crisis on rural communities and the importance of protecting the well-being of children.

The plea from these lawmakers comes as the border crisis continues to worsen, with an increasing number of illegal border crossings and a strain on resources. It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will respond to this call for action to secure the border and address the ongoing crisis.
