WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, has voted in favor of impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. In a statement released today, Feenstra expressed his reasons for supporting the impeachment.

Feenstra accused Mayorkas of intentionally failing to secure the border and protect American families. He pointed out that under Mayorkas' watch, individuals with dangerous ties to China, terrorists, drug traffickers, and millions of illegal immigrants have entered the country without proper vetting. This, according to Feenstra, has posed a serious threat to the safety and security of the nation.

The congressman also highlighted the negative impact of Mayorkas' actions on both border communities and rural communities in Iowa. He criticized the Secretary's unwillingness to close the border and combat drug cartels, which Feenstra believes has led to an increase in drug-related deaths, particularly due to the opioid crisis.

Feenstra expressed his frustration with President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas, stating that his repeated calls for the enforcement of existing laws and the restoration of order at the border have gone unanswered. In his view, their failure to address these issues has reinforced his decision to support the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas.

It remains to be seen how this impeachment vote will impact the ongoing debate surrounding border security and immigration policies.
