WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued a statement today criticizing the Environmental Protection Agency for not finalizing Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) for 2026 – 2028.
“The Biden administration’s failure to set Renewable Volume Obligations for 2026, 2027, and 2028 is inexcusable. Our farmers and biofuel producers are already facing inflation, high interest rates, low commodity prices, and regulatory burdens that place pressure on their bottom lines. The EPA’s decision to waste an additional 18 months before finalizing biofuel blending volumes just adds salt to the wound,” said Rep. Feenstra.
Feenstra further noted his previous efforts with Senators Grassley and Ernst to address this issue: “In a letter with Senators Grassley and Ernst in May, I already called on the Biden administration to increase RVO levels, which the EPA set far too low below actual production capacity and helped contribute to the biodiesel plant closure in Ralston. President Biden and Administrator Regan need to finalize higher RVO levels for the 2026-2028 period to deliver certainty and relief to our farmers and biofuel producers.”
