U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra has announced the allocation of $1.7 million to Spencer Community Schools for flood recovery and cleanup. This funding comes in response to the severe flooding that affected Spencer last summer, impacting homes, businesses, and educational institutions.

Feenstra expressed his commitment to aiding communities like Spencer in their recovery efforts. "Last summer’s devastating floods hit communities like Spencer especially hard – damaging homes, businesses, and schools. Although months have since passed, I am still working to deliver critical relief so that our communities can rebuild and get back on their feet," he stated.

The secured funds aim to expedite the process of getting students back into classrooms. Feenstra added, "I’m glad that my office and I could help Spencer Community Schools secure nearly $2 million to support flood recovery and cleanup efforts. These funds will help get students back in the classroom sooner, and I look forward to seeing Spencer Community Schools fully reopen soon."

Terry Hemann, Superintendent of Spencer Community Schools, acknowledged the assistance from Feenstra's office: "I thank Congressman Feenstra and his office for helping us navigate a difficult process so that we could secure the funds that we need to reopen and support our students." He also encouraged other schools affected by the floods to reach out for similar support.

Feenstra emphasized his office's readiness to assist any school or community needing access to flood recovery funding.
