Iron Horse Aviation, a family-owned aviation company based in Newton, Iowa, has been named Small Business of the Week by Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee Chair Joni Ernst. The recognition comes during National Veterans Small Business Week.
“Iron Horse Aviation is soari ng proof of the grit, discipline, and service that define our nation’s veterans,” said Chair Ernst. “Founded in 2016, Colt and Emily Zesch have propelled their vision into a business that not only provides world-class aviation services but also lands firmly on the values of faith, family, and country. During National Veterans Small Business Week, I’m honored to recognize the Zeschs’ leadership and dedication.”
The company was founded in 2016 by U.S. Army veteran Colt Zesch and his wife Emily. Starting as a small operation, Iron Horse Aviation has grown to provide specialized aerial services throughout the Midwest and beyond. Colt Zesch is a fifth-generation Iowa farmer and former member of the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division.
In addition to running their business, the Zeschs established the Iron Horse Guardians Foundation, a nonprofit organization that operates a helicopter fleet for humanitarian missions such as search and rescue operations, disaster relief efforts, and supply delivery.
Chair Ernst plans to continue highlighting notable small businesses in Iowa through her ongoing Small Business of the Week award.
