Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Rural Small Business Resilience Act with support from U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-Hull). This legislation aims to provide small businesses with necessary financial assistance following disasters.
Rep. Feenstra emphasized the impact of natural disasters on Iowa's communities and businesses, stating, "In Iowa, we’ve faced floods, tornadoes, and derechos that have devastated our communities and hurt our businesses on Main Street, which are the backbone of our economy." He further highlighted the importance of immediate financial support for recovery efforts: "When disaster strikes, we need to ensure that our small businesses have the immediate financial support that they need to get back on their feet."
Feenstra expressed his commitment to supporting business growth through his role on the House Ways and Means Committee. "That’s why I voted for the Rural Small Business Resilience Act so that our small businesses can access disaster assistance, recover as quickly as possible, and keep employees on payroll," he stated.
The passage of this act is intended to strengthen business resilience in rural areas by facilitating access to disaster assistance.
