U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra's office has successfully acquired six military medals and pins for the late Edward Motz, a World War II veteran from Sioux City. The medals were awarded for Motz's service in Italy and the Aleutian Islands during the war. The medals were presented to Motz's family members in a ceremony held on March 24 in Sioux City.

Representative Feenstra expressed his gratitude for the service of veterans, stating, “Our veterans are heroes who deserve our deepest appreciation for their service to our country and the sacrifices they made to defend our values and freedoms." He underscored the importance of recognizing veterans' heroism and patriotism, further encouraging veterans or their family members to reach out to his office if they require assistance with VA-related matters or obtaining deserved medals.

Curtis Motz, the grandson of Edward Motz, expressed his appreciation for the congressman's efforts, saying, “I thank Congressman Feenstra and his office for getting my late grandfather the military medals he earned from his service during World War II. This recognition was a long time coming and honors the commitment that he made to our country so many years ago.”

The accolades obtained for Edward Motz include the WWII Victory Medal, the WWII Honorable Service Lapel Button, the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & the Bronze Star Attachment, the American Campaign Medal, and the Marksman Badge & Carbine Bar.

Photographed during the ceremony were Wes Fopma from Congressman Randy Feenstra’s office, along with Robert Motz, Curtis Motz, and Denny Motz.
