Today, U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra participated in a key vote, where the U.S. House of Representatives approved the No Rogue Rulings Act. This legislative measure aims to restore the constitutional separation of powers and restrict the authority of district court judges to issue nationwide injunctions.
The bill seeks to address concerns raised regarding the issuance of nationwide injunctions by district court judges, which have been seen as obstacles to the implementation of the previous administration's policies. Feenstra emphasized the impact of these injunctions: “Since the beginning of the Trump administration, district court judges have issued nationwide injunctions preventing President Trump from advancing his America First agenda."
Feenstra argued that such injunctions go beyond the intended scope of federal courts, which are meant to resolve specific cases and controversies. "I voted to rein in the power of district court judges because our Constitution limits federal courts to resolving specific 'cases' and 'controversies.' Nationwide injunctions violate that limitation and empower these judges to render far-reaching decisions with a single ruling," he stated.
Feenstra underscored the importance of allowing the elected administration's agenda to proceed without interference from what he described as activist judges. “The will of the American people matters, and the American people voted to restore prosperity and greatness unhindered by far-left court decisions,” he concluded.
The No Rogue Rulings Act represents a significant move by the House to recalibrate the balance of power between the judicial and executive branches of the U.S. government.
