Randy Feenstra, a U.S. Congressman representing Iowa's 4th district since 2021, shared insights on economic and legislative developments through his recent tweets. Feenstra, who succeeded Steve King in Congress and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021, commented on President Trump's proposed legislation and introduced his own bill aimed at protecting American farmland.
On July 8, 2025, Feenstra expressed support for President Trump's economic proposal by stating that "President Trump's 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill' will be jet fuel for our economy." He cited estimates from the Council of Economic Advisers suggesting potential GDP growth of up to 5.2% in the short term and 3.5% in the long term. Additionally, he noted a possible increase of 14.5% in investment within the country.
Later that day, Feenstra highlighted his efforts to protect American agriculture with his FARMLAND Act. In a tweet posted at 17:05 UTC, he stated "We can keep China away from our farmland by passing my FARMLAND Act." The legislation aims to introduce new oversight measures for foreign purchases of farmland and impose penalties on foreign investors who fail to disclose such acquisitions.
In another tweet posted at 17:41 UTC on July 8th, Feenstra discussed additional benefits included in President Trump’s bill for senior citizens. He mentioned that "President Trump’s 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill' delivers an additional $6,000 deduction for our seniors!" This measure is intended to ensure that approximately 88% of Social Security recipients would not have to pay taxes on their Social Security income.
Feenstra was born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and continues to reside there today. He graduated from Dordt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.
