Rep. Randy Feenstra, who represents Iowa’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 17, 2025, addressing federal funding for California’s rail project, agricultural biosecurity measures, and financial privacy issues.

In a post made at 17:40 UTC, Feenstra expressed support for former President Trump’s decision to halt federal funds for California's high-speed rail project. He wrote, "Thank you to President Trump for STOPPING all federal funding for California's train to nowhere. Iowans shouldn't have to pick up the tab for California's failures!".

Later that day at 18:06 UTC, Feenstra addressed agricultural concerns regarding animal diseases and related government initiatives. He stated, "Foreign animal diseases are an ever-present threat to agriculture. We must prioritize investments that keep our food supply safe and protect our farms from financial ruin. I'm glad that we fully funded animal health initiatives in President Trump's 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill.'"

At 20:29 UTC on the same day, Feenstra commented on financial policy by highlighting his vote against establishing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the United States. He said, "Today, I voted to ban the creation of a central bank digital currency in the United States. Americans deserve financial privacy and security."

Randy Feenstra has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Steve King in 2021 and previously held office in the Iowa Senate from 2009 until his election to Congress. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and currently residing there at age 54, Feenstra graduated from Dordt University with a bachelor’s degree in 1991.
