U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) has announced the opening of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for students in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. The annual competition invites middle and high school students to create and submit their own software applications.
“I’m excited to announce that the 2025 Congressional App Challenge has officially begun in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. This competition gives middle and high school students the opportunity to have fun while coding and building their own app,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I strongly encourage Iowa students to participate in this year’s Congressional App Challenge and look forward to reviewing many great submissions.”
Participants can design apps for web, PC, tablet, mobile, Raspberry Pi, or other platforms using any programming language, including C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or block code. Students may compete individually or in teams of up to four members.
The registration process is available online, with a submission deadline set for October 30th, 2025 at 11 AM CT. More information about registration and competition guidelines can be found on the Congressional App Challenge website.
Questions regarding the challenge can be directed to Abby Vander Werf, Rep. Feenstra’s Regional Director based in Council Bluffs.
Rep. Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th district in Congress since replacing Steve King in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. He was born in Hull, Iowa in 1969 and graduated from Dordt University with a bachelor’s degree in 1991.
