Senator Joni Ernst, representing Iowa, posted a series of messages on August 20, 2025, addressing topics ranging from agriculture to government spending and the origins of COVID-19.
In recognition of a food-related holiday, Ernst wrote on August 20: "Happy National Bacon Lovers Day! Iowa is the top pork producing state, and our farmers work hard to keep bacon on your table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!" According to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa leads the nation in pork production.
Later that day, Ernst criticized federal expenditures in a post referencing an investigation by @RCInvestigates: ".@RCInvestigates’ Waste of the Day: Joe Biden's $1.2 million overseas pool party. I am ending the splashy spending in Washington!" Senator Ernst has previously been vocal about reducing what she describes as wasteful government spending.
In another post on August 20 regarding public health officials and pandemic response transparency, Ernst stated: "Dr. Fauci and deep state officials colluded to conceal the true origins of COVID-19 from President Trump and the American people. Time for Dr. Fauci to testify before the Senate about what he knew and when he knew it!" Debates over the origins of COVID-19 have continued in Congress, with calls for further testimony from former public health officials.
