Senator Joni Ernst, representing Iowa, used her social media platform on August 27, 2025, to comment on several topics ranging from agricultural policy to fuel prices and sports.

In her first post of the day, Ernst expressed appreciation for the Trump administration's response to her advocacy regarding fertilizer components. She wrote: "Thank you to the Trump administration for answering my call to action and adding potash to the list of critical minerals.

To protect our food supply and farmers, I look forward to working with them to include another key component to fertilizer, phosphate, as well!" (August 27, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Ernst commented on energy costs. She stated: "Cheapest gas in years.

Thank you, President Trump!" (August 27, 2025).

In a third message posted in the evening, she congratulated a coach following an athletic victory. Her message read: "Congrats, coach!

Well-deserved and a great win in Farmageddon." (August 27, 2025).

The inclusion of potash as a critical mineral aligns with broader federal efforts to secure domestic supply chains essential for U.S. agriculture. Potash is vital for producing fertilizers that support crop yields nationwide. Phosphate is another important ingredient in fertilizers frequently discussed by lawmakers seeking greater agricultural self-sufficiency.

Gasoline prices have been a focus of national debate due to their impact on household expenses and farm operations alike. Fluctuations in global energy markets and government policies can directly influence these costs.

Senator Ernst’s posts reflect ongoing discussions about supporting American agriculture and managing energy costs—key issues for constituents in Iowa’s rural communities.
